Exchange residency Dance+
Application deadline: 21 February

An artistic residence between four dance artists from Lithuania and Sweden, two from each country. The aim of the exchange residency is to explore the limits of movement beyond the normative canons of the stage and combine dance with unexpected activities/hobbies/occupations. Dance+ is a connection between contemporary dance and the artist's chosen activity – swimming, bread baking, knitting, or anything that is interesting and is relevant to the dance artist as a person. Another important element of this residency is creative and human resources exchanges between Swedish and Lithuanian artists. The residency will consist of two periods: Spending one week Vilnius, Lithuania, working in Art printing house dance studio, and one week in Region Västra Götaland, Sweden, location to be decided at a later date.

The residency does not have a fixed time period, it will be adjusted after the artists availability.

Included in the residency is a fee of 700 € per week (total 1400 €), accommodation, travel expenses, studio and two public presentations.

The residency is organised by Lithuania Contemporary Dance Association and the Cultural Development Administration, Region Västra Götaland, Sweden. Funded by Lithuania Culture Council and Region Västra Götaland.

Artists will be selected by two representatives of Lithuania Contemporary Dance Association and two from Region Västra Götaland. More details here.

Open call - A Study of Choices on 6 March 2022
Deadline 27 February

Study of Choices is a Choreographic Manuscript made for three dancers. It consists of instructions that are heard for the first time when the dancers enter the stage. The audience and the dancers hear the instructions at the same time. The performance is created in the moment by the way the dancers interpret the instructions.

On Sunday 6 March, A Study of Choices will be presented at Kolgruvan, Ringön as a part of the Gothenburg Fringe Spring Showcase. We are looking for three local dancers with different backgrounds and different ages who are used to improvisation/instant composition. We are hoping for a diverse ensemble, searching for dancers from hip hop, flamenco, modern dance, ballet or other dance styles.

We are looking for:

  • dancers from different genres with experience in improvisation and working with scores

  • you enjoy the unpredictable and want to share your movement vocabulary with a small audience

  • dancers based in Gothenburg

The instructions on stage will be in English.

Linda Wardal and Gustav Lejelind have created the work with the intention of the manuscript to be warm and appreciative of the participating dancers. As a dancer, you will not be exposed to anything uncomfortable.

Fee: 2000:- sek, VAT included. Send us an invoice after the performance.

Preparation time: we meet up 2 hours before the performance starts.

Apply to take part here.
