Apply for the COMPASS Makers Space for emerging choreographers in Tranås 17-26 February 2024!
In collaboration with Kultivera Tranås, COMPASS is offering a residency for two emerging choreographers aged between 20 and 30 which will take place in Tranås on 17-26 February 2024. You can either apply alone or with a partner. If you apply alone, you may share the studio space with another applicant, offering both of you another opportunity to connect and support each other in your work.
COMPASS Makers Space is one part of a double residency program, meaning that a total of two groups will work parallel to each other. The other project in the double residency is led by dancer and choreographer Stina Nilsson.
The aim of this approach is to promote exchange and to avoid the isolation that a residency can sometimes entail. The residency participants can be each other's sounding board in the artistic process and get an insight into each other's way of working.
The residency offers the opportunity to work undisturbed with one's artistic practice, and at the same time invites dialogue and exchange.
The residency includes:
- Studio space
- Accommodation for two people
- A total of 5000 SEK per person (max 2 people)
- Travel to and from Tranås (within Europe) at the beginning and end of the residency
- Opportunity to meet other artists as part of the double residency program
- Mentorship on the project from ilDance, depending on your needs
During the residency period, participants are required to
- lead one workshop for local dance students
- show a work-in-progress performance
- participate in an artist talk in connection to the performance
This residency is offered by COMPASS, with the support of Kultivera and Region Jönköping. Applicants based in Sweden or a neighbouring country will be prioritised.
The application deadline was 29 December 2023 (23:59 CET).
Decisions will be shared by 8th of January 2024.
